The Tradition of Creating
Without traditions
how would we classify what we do?
How would we know what was new?
Accumulated meanings
attend us all
interpreting senses
make sense to recall
experience
Without the constraints
of conventions and rules
language is sound (noise)
adrift like a fool
a meaningless tool
Culturally anchored
language is sound (sensible)
meaning is fixed
to the solid ground
where conventions abound
Traditions are needed
for the sharing of art
a creative act
needs somewhere to start
The tools of the "trade"
may be old or new
but creative acts
are a point of view
